Our Investment DB Business Unit works with trustees of Defined Benefit (DB) pension schemes, to offer expert investment advice. We currently have an exciting opportunity to join this Business Unit as an Investment Data Specialist – to focus on Index and Market Data.

What will your role look like?As our Data Specialist you will join our growing, multi-disciplinary Investment Data & Reporting team within our wider Investment DB Business Unit. This is a newly created role that offers you an exciting opportunity to shape and define an impactful index and market data service across both this Business Unit and our wider firm. In this role you’ll support with the day-to-day management of our index and market data and will work with colleagues across the firm to deliver continuous improvement activities on the use of this.

Though this is a varied role, your key tasks will include:

  • Supporting the Business Unit with the day-to-day management of our index and market data, leading on certain elements of this as required and acting as a key contact for queries
  • Building strong relationships with our third-party data providers and acting as our key point of contact with them
  • Helping to identify and deliver continuous improvements in the way we work with index and market data, whilst ensuring compliance and managing risk
  • Contributing to our broader data and reporting initiatives, taking a lead on projects as required
  • Encouraging effective communication and cross-team collaboration both within your Business Unit and the wider firm

To enjoy and succeed in this role, you will:

  • Have experience of working with index and/or market data within a similar, relevant role
  • Have exceptional communication skills, and will enjoy working with others
  • Possess strong attention to detail, as well as excellent organisational and task prioritisation skills
  • Be self-motivated and resilient, with the ability to use your initiative to complete tasks
  • Have experience of working with Microsoft 365 software, in particular the use of Excel, Word and PowerPoint (or similar programmes)

Given that working with data and numbers is a key component of this role, we’d also be looking for you to have studied Maths to at least Scottish Standard Grade, or English GCSE level (or equivalent).

Though not a set requirement, this opportunity may be attractive to those who are CFA or CIPM qualified (or are working towards achieving this).

In addition to a competitive salary and access to our profit share scheme, we offer:

  • A flexible selection of employee benefits, so you can choose a package that best matches your lifestyle and needs
  • A collaborative and supportive work environment where your thinking and ideas are encouraged
  • On site mental health and wellbeing support
  • A commitment to helping you develop both personally and professionally, with mentoring opportunities and access to our award-winning learning portal, Aspire.
  • Regular social activities, in addition to three days paid volunteering leave each year and a day’s leave to celebrate your birthday.

We are open to this role being based in either of our Scotland offices – Glasgow or Edinburgh. And we offer hybrid working so you can enjoy the positive wellbeing of working from home as well as the benefits of meeting colleagues in our sociable, modern office environments.
